Excellent facilities are available within the resort , and the mild sunny year round climate, make it a perfect destination for an activity holiday. Some of the sports and activities are listed below.
Renowned Golf Resort in Portugal
Championship 18 hole golf course rated by the internationally
recognised Peugeot Golf Guide 2003 as the number
one golf course in Portugal.
A perfect venue for golfing holidays in Portugal with plenty of other courses available within the region, many of which are in the Lisbon area (1 hour drive).
Tennis centre
Seven all weather tennis courts together with clubhouse,
changing facilities etc. provide perfect facilities
for a tennis holiday in Portugal.
Surfing
Surfing is popular on the beach in the resort and
other neighbouring beaches along the coastline particularly
in Baleal and Peniche (15 minutes drive). This area
is renowned as one of the best spots for surfing
in Europe and senior competitions are regularly
held. The turismo hands out a free fold-out surf guide to local beaches. Gear can be rented at Rip Curl or from any of the local surf camps. Lessons cost from €25. Back

Diving
The Berlengas Islands have an incredible natural scenery with calm and crystalline waters that are renowned for diving. The island is 2.5 square kilometres and is surrounded by calm, crystal clear sea perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving. The island is almost uninhabited save for a few fishermen. The ferry from Peniche takes about 45 minutes, costs from €18 and operates from May to September.

A variety of water sports such as sailing, windsurfing
and water-skiing, are available in the calm waters
of the nearby Óbidos lagoon.

The
Beaches
The beaches in the area are excellent with the local
Praia D'el Rey beach only a 5 minute walk, where
the surfers are often seen riding the atlantic waves.
Surfing is also popular at the bay of Baleal which
is a 10 minute drive away.
Three kilometres from the resort is the Óbidos Lagoon, which is excellent for children wanting to paddle whilst others use the large lagoon for sailing and windsurfing. The beach of Foz do Arelho is located on the north side of the Obidos lagoon and provides another excellent alternative. Back

The
Area
Praia D'el Rey is located in the Costa de Prata which
stretches along 200kms from Espinho in the north,
down to Ericeira in the south. The region is characterised
by lagoons, small hill villages, castles, forests
and sandy beaches considered to be among the finest
in Europe. There are many places of interest in
the region that you can visit, some of which are listed below. Back

Óbidos
The
local medieval walled town of Óbidos is a must for
visit. With narrow cobbled streets leading to the
castle, the views are wonderful, shops interesting
and restaurants excellent.
Peniche
The
picturesque fishing village of Peniche is a short
drive away and is renowned for its seafood restaurants
serving a wonderful selection of dishes at inexpensive

The
Berlenga Islands
Day
trips can be taken from Peniche to this beautiful
national park which is a designated nature reserve.
It is also known for its diving activities.
Other local interesting towns include Bombarral. Nazaré, Alcobaça, Tomar,Caldas da Rainha, with further afield the religious shrine of Fatima, the spectacular underground caves of Grutas de Mira de Aire, the dinosaur footprints at Monumental Natural das Pegadas, historic Coimbra, the casino at Estoril, and the sophisticated city of Lisbon with its museums, shopping and nightlife.Back
